FROM PROBLEMS TO POSSIBILITIES

Often, when clients with ADHD first come to us, they are experiencing a crisis and/or facing significant challenges in their lives. Most of them have pervasive, negative thinking patterns (i.e., cognitive distortions), which immobilize them. As trained ADHD coaches, we help them shift from a problem-focused mindset to one of possibilities. The coaching journey empowers them to move forward in the present and create a brighter future.

WHAT YOU PAY ATTENTION TO GROWS

OVERVIEW: ADHD COACHING

Made2Focus specializes in working with adults and families to navigate the challenges of ADHD, build executive function skills, and promote personal growth. ADHD coaching opens the door to a world of infinite possibilities. Throughout the coaching journey, clients will be empowered to gain more clarity, develop forward momentum, and reach their potential.
Our ADHD strength-based coaching approach utilizes appreciative inquiry—identifying and analyzing what is working well, focusing attention on it, and building upon it. We support clients in developing greater self-awareness so that they can experience a positive mindset shift. We partner with clients to explore different strategies, and develop tools, skills, and structures based on individual client needs. Leveraging processing styles, strengths, interests, and support networks, clients can achieve success and greater well-being.

When you align your signature character strengths (the essence of "who" you are as a person) with your interests, natural talents, and support resources, you are in the 'power zone.'

How Self-Aware are You?
Asking powerful questions to help you figure out who you are and where you want to go.

HOW IS YOUR ADHD BRAIN UNIQUELY WIRED? How does ADHD impact your quality of life? How does your ADHD manifest in different situations? What resources and support systems do you have in place? WHAT DO YOU PAY ATTENTION TO? What are the signals in your body telling you?  How do you pause and observe your own thoughts? How is what you're doing in the moment serving you? What are your strengths? What comes naturally to you? WHAT ARE YOUR INTERESTS? What are your signature personality traits and capacities? What's important to you? What are your sources of motivation? WHAT IGNITES YOUR PASSION? What energizes you? How would you describe the essence of who you are? How do you lead a meaningful life?

Develop Greater Self-Awareness
  • understand the neurological underpinnings of ADHD in response to areas of interest, passion, boredom, and stress; how thoughts and experiences create neurochemicals that can activate you or immobilize you
  • explore how ADHD impacts your life and how it manifests in different situations and environments
  • identify challenges (including the invisible challenges of ADHD)
  • reframe negative thoughts (cognitive distortions)
  • uncover your processing styles
  • examine your past successes
  • assess values, interests, character strengths, and emotional intelligence (EQ)
Identify and Achieve Goals
  • identify goals which align with your values (i.e., defining goals based on what you find to be intrinsically important and motivating)
  • integrate your strengths with what you feel passionate about in your life
  • leverage your unique brain wiring for success

Unlock Your Potential: Tools, Strategies, and Systems
  • create environments and opportunities for success

FAMILY ADHD COACHING:
WHO IS IT FOR?

When adolescents, college students, or young adults in their 20s or 30s struggle with ADHD and executive function challenges, it can impact the entire family. We work with the family to educate everyone about ADHD and how individual ADHD traits manifest in different situations. We address sources of frustration, friction, and imbalance in the family. We help parents set boundaries and work with families to manage transitions. Some common areas we target are listed below.
ADOLESCENTS
  • optimizing executive function skills: (self-regulation and emotional control, time management, planning/prioritization of assignments and projects, initiation of tasks, sustained attention, flexibility, organization of notebooks, backpacks, study area, etc.)
  • improving academic skills (note-taking, study habits, etc.)
  • enhancing social skills
COLLEGE STUDENTS
  • aligning interests with academic pursuits
  • accessing learning/academic supports, resources, and accommodations
  • building executive function and independent life skills
  • balancing the college workload with social activities, workplace demands, and other commitments
  • managing distractions
  • developing systems and structures
YOUNG ADULTS (IN THEIR 20s AND 30s)
  • "adulting"
  • defining what you want for yourself in the future
  • identifying goals and opportunities (careers, relationships, etc.)
  • managing transitions and uncertainty
  • aligning decisions with your values
  • balancing career, family, and social commitments
  • leading a productive, fulfilling life
PARENTS AND OTHER CAREGIVERS
